I'll be posting some of my arrangements of music that I like on this page. You may notice that I have created arrangements for certain ensembles such as reed quintet. This is intentional, but please contact me if you have a certain ensemble in mind. I'd appreciate a mention in any concert materials and permission to use any recordings of your performance.
SOLACE A Mexican Seranade
Scott Joplin
1867/68, Texas — April 1, 1917, New York City
"Solace" was published in 1909
"With Solace, Joplin had reached a new maturity where he could express a range of complex emotions lifting Ragtime far beyond its popular appeal as a light-hearted form of music. Certainly Solace is unusually complex among piano rags, and its subtitle "A Mexican Serenade" perhaps reflects the fact that its left hand rhythm suggests a slow latin Tango." - mfiles.co.uk

GYMNOPEDIE No. 1
Erik Satie
Honfleur, Normandy, 17 May 1866 – 1 July 1925, Paris
In the 1880s, he worked as a pianist in café-cabaret in Montmartre, Paris, and began composing works, mostly for solo piano, such as his Gymnopédies.
From about 1910, he became the focus of successive groups of young composers attracted by his unconventionality and originality. Among them were the group known as Les Six. A meeting with Jean Cocteau in 1915 led to the creation of the ballet Parade (1917) for Serge Diaghilev, with music by Satie, sets and costumes by Pablo Picasso, and choreography by Léonide Massine. – Wikipedia
